Dean Orwig Takes an Oath To Protect Our Country

Senior Dean Orwig enlisted in the Army National Guard on July 31st in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This enlistment took place at the Military Entrance Processing Station where he had security checks, physical, medical, and drug tests done. Around 12 p.m. he went into the ceremony room and enlisted. He signed for 8 years and after the contract is over he will go on active duty.
Orwig has a family history of military service dating back to the American Revolutionary War. He said, “I want to be a part of the elite group of people who can say they protect our country.” Orwig enlisted to be an airborne infantryman and will be going down on June 16th to Fort Benning, GA for 10 weeks of boot camp, 12 weeks of infantry training, and 3 weeks of airborne training.
