Pierce High School held their annual cheer tryouts for the 2020-21 season. The cheerleaders could choose to either cheer fall or winter or both of the seasons if they wished to. The captains for the new cheer season are seniors-to-be Kailey Marks and Shelby White.
The cheer tryouts were on Wednesday, April 8, over a Zoom call due to the Coronavirus. There were 14 girls who decided to try out. The girls had to learn two cheers, two dances, and 4 jumps to successfully try out.
New cheerleader, sophomore Madi Hamm said, “To me the cheers and dances were easy to catch onto, and it was unfortunate that we had to do it over a Zoom call but I thought it went well and everyone did amazing.”
The cheerleaders that made it were Samantha Fischer, Madisyn Hamm, Alle Koehler, Breanna Lindstrom, Kailey Marks, Alena Peters, MacKenzie Peters, Alexis Schnoor, McKenna Shonka, Kaila Spieker, Katie Vogt, and Shelby White.
Sophomore Samantha Fischer, who is also a new cheerleader, said, “I think tryouts went pretty well, considering we had to do them over Zoom. I’m excited to cheer with all the girls on the team, they’re all super nice.”
