SAE Grant Winners
by Isabelle Skrdla
Congratulations Haiden Magnussen, Trever Montgomery, Dakota Marks, and Ella Gaes for being awarded $500 for their SAEs (Supervised Agricultural Experience). They were awarded these grants by Steve Prince, a member of the local FFA alumni. He presented the checks to the students at the Pierce FFA December meeting. This money will be put toward the student’s SAEs.
Magnussen’s project is in wildlife management and Marks formed his project about sheep production. Montgomery has a lure business, TMBaits, while Gaes focus for her project on a western jewelry business.
Sophomore Montgomery states, “Owning your own baits company is not cheap. A lot of the things you can buy are expensive. This grant will now help me get some of the new bait designs and colors I have been wanting. I am glad now that this grant will hopefully help me get over that hump to expand this company even more. And anybody can receive this grant. You just have to put in a bit of effort and time into it.”
In order to be eligible for the grants, each of these students had to fill out a rigorous application that was then judged by the alumni’s committee.
