Pierce High Marches in YanktonÂ
By Kaden Froehlich
On Saturday, October 9, the Pierce band went to Yankton to compete in the Meridian Marching Festival. Overall, the band received 2nd place in the parade in Class A, and 1st place in the field marching while competing in Class B.
Band member Kenna Sedlacek comments, “The band did spectacular on the field as well as in the parade marching!”
This festival included over 20 different schools and their marching bands who competed and marched across the Yankton Meridian Bridge. After marching across the bridge, the Pierce band marched on the Crane-Youngstown Field.
This was the second marching band competition that Pierce competed in for the year.
Junior Tate Reinke adds, “I think we did really well for only having two seniors, but we still have to work on our fundamentals. Mr. Sindt’s encouragement definitely helped us succeed.”
The Pierce marching band competes at the Quad States Marching Festival at the University of South Dakota on Saturday, October 16.
