Choir Kids Harmonize at Mid-State Vocal Clinic
By Elizabeth Furstenau
There is always room for improvement in all aspects of life, and the choir students decided to improve their already incredible voices on Monday, November 4, as the entire choir class headed to O’Neill for the Mid-State vocal clinic.
Pierce joined eight other schools and sang four mass choir songs and then each school sang an individual song. Clay Blackman was the clinician for the day.
The importance of the clinic was to get together with other schools in the district and perform together in a non-competitive setting.
“Even though we are small, we are mighty singers,” choir director Amy Barnhill claims. “There is a lot of talent in northeast Nebraska.”
“I feel like every director has a different way of conducting songs, so how Mrs. Barnhill directs compared to how this director directed is obviously different,” senior choir member Hadleigh Collison states. “It teaches you to learn how to watch your director and understand what they are saying and what they want because every director is different.”
The choir students are currently preparing for their Christmas concert, which will be held Monday, December 16.
