By Brynn Schwartz
The JV boy wrestlers went to a tournament in O’Neill on December 16, and faced 11 other teams.
“The wrestling meet went hard. They gave a good effort, and we used a lot of good things that we used at practice and put it into the meet. One thing we could work on is having good pressure on top, using both hands and feet to hold everyone down and finishing our shots from our feet,” assistant coach Grant King said.
Starting off, Uther Nogueira (120) placed third. In round one Nogueira went against Enrique Sotelo Amezcua from Madison and lost by fall. In round three, Nogueira lost by fall against Owen Laska of Boone Central.
At 132, Brody Kesting placed in third for the Bluejays. In the quarterfinal Kesting lost by a 25-15 major decision to Keigan Couch from O’Neill St. Marys. During consolation round 1 Kesting received a bye advancing to the next round where he pinned Kamden Schowalter of Battle Creek. During the third round, Miller fell to Griffin Cunningham of Boone Central. Miller won his fourth round, pinning Misael Ciriaco who attends Madison. The final round for Miller saw him pinning Carson Koch of Ainsworth.
