The Bluejays performed very well in their first game back after the holiday break, earning a win against the Lutheran High Northeast Eagles on January 3.
To start the game, the Bluejays came out strong in the first quarter, leading against the Eagles 14-12 going into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, the Eagles took the lead from the Bluejays, who trailed 30-25 lead going into the half.
The Bluejays came out ready for business after the half only letting the Eagles score four points to their 13 in the third quarter.
The fourth quarter was not much different, only letting LHNE score eight to Pierce’s 12 to seal the game, making the final score of the Bluejay win 50-42.
“I think we did good as a team overall. I feel like everyone came out knowing what was on the line and everyone performed,” Keaton Frazier, a junior, said. “I think we really turned it on in the second half and things sorted themselves out from there.”
Frazier and Brock Collison came ready to play, both scoring 18 points each and having two assists each. Next up on the board was Ryder Theisen helping the Bluejays with five points. Jax Bauer added four points for the Bluejays. Kendall Shada put up a 3-pointer for the Bluejays, while Gavin Lubischer put two on the board.
“Overall we played well for the entire game. I felt we played extremely well in the second half on the defensive side of the court, only allowing them to score 12 points in the second half,” head coach Alex Thramer said.
The Bluejays are in action again on Thursday when they host David City Aquinas.
