Pierce’s Devastating Fall Against Aquinas

Pierce Boys Basketball fought hard against the David City Aquinas Monarchs on January 9 at their home court but lost in the end, 49-31.
Pierce scored five points in the first quarter, but Aquinas was able to score 13 points.
Pierce scored eight points in the second quarter, and Aquinas scored 12, making the score going into halftime 25-13 in favor of the Monarchs.
After halftime, Pierce was able to score 10 more points, and held Aquinas to only six, making the score headed into the fourth quarter 31-23.
At one point in the fourth quarter, Pierce narrowed the lead to only five points, but the Monarchs ended up winning 49-31.
“Our Aquinas game was not the game we envisioned. We didn't play well on either side of the floor but will use this to grow and get better,” coach Alex Thramer stated.
Scoring the most points for the Bluejays were Keaton Frazier with 13, with 10 points scored was Brock Collison, Ethan Nordby and Kendall Shada both scored three points and with two points scored throughout the game was Ryder Theisen.
Pierce travels across the conference to Cedar Catholic on Friday, January 17.
Fr/So Boys Basketball Take Win Against Lakeview

On Saturday, January 11, the Pierce High freshmen/sophomore team had a game against Lakeview and won 48-40.
“I think that the team is growing a little bit each game and throughout the season they are getting better,” Kaleb Anderson, freshmen/sophomore coach stated.
In the first quarter, the score was 16-7 with Pierce in the lead.
Altogether in the second quarter, Pierce had 10 more by the end of the second, making the score 26-16.
With the third quarter coming, the Pierce boys had 15 more added to the scoreboard, while Lakeview added 16, but Pierce still led in the end, 41-32.
By the end of the game, the Bluejays added seven while the Vikings added eight, but even though Lakeview won the quarter, Pierce won the game 58-40.
“This year the boys have been working hard and improving on everything,” Anderson stated at the end of the game.
The freshmen/sophomore team will play Monday, January 20, at Wisner-Pilger.
