PowerSchool Cyber Security Incident
Dear Pierce Public School Families:
Out of an abundance of caution, I would like to inform you about a cyber security incident. Our school district was informed on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 that PowerSchool, a student information system provider used by our school district and many others across the country, experienced a cybersecurity incident on Saturday, December 28, 2024 where some student data from our school district and other school districts was downloaded by an unauthorized user.
PowerSchool has indicated the situation has been contained and they have taken actions to prevent the information from being used. We have reinforced to this vendor our expectations about upholding the highest data security standards. If there are any important updates, we will notify you.
