Bluejay Basketball Falls to Blue Devils

By Peyton Brunckhorst

The Pierce boys basketball team traveled to Wayne for sub-districts on Tuesday, February 25, but fell short with a score of 41-22.

The game did not turn out the way we wanted. Wayne has a really good defense, and we just could not find a good way to attack it. It has been weird being the only kid in my class to play basketball, but I got used to it this year. I will never forget the memories I made on this team, and I would not want it any other way,” Payton Cederburg said.

To start the game, the Bluejays trailed the Blue Devils 9-7 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Pierce scored two points and Wayne scored eight points making the score 17-9.

Starting the second half, the Bluejays scored five points and the Blue Devils scored seven points closing up the quarter 24-14.

To wrap up the game, Pierce scored eight points and Wayne scored 17 points, which ended the game with a score of 41-22.

Keaton Frazier was the leading scorer with 12 points, contributing to the team’s total of 22 points. Kendall Shada added four points while Brock Collison and Gavin Lubischer each scored three points.

Frazier also led in rebounds, with a total of five. Cederburg, Collison, and Theisen contributed with four rebounds, and Lubischer with two.

The Bluejays concluded their season with a record of 10-15.
