A Concert in Full Bloom

The 6-12 graders performed their annual spring band concert on Thursday, March 20.
Starting the night, the 6th grade band performed “Creepy Crawlies” by Mike Story, “A Shaker Hymn” by John O’Reilly, and “Defeating the Giant” by Rob Grice.
Next to the stage was the junior high band performing “Skygazer Fanfare” By Randall Standridge, “Celtic Air and Dance No. 2” By Michael Sweeney, and “Outta Time!” By Christina Huss.
Drawing the crowd's attention next was the jazz band playing three songs consisting of “Don’t Get Sassy” By Thad Jones, “Come Sunday” By Duke Ellington, and “Hit the Bricks” By Gordon Goodwin.
Closing the night off was the Pierce High School band. They performed the songs, “To Create a Voice” by Carol Brittin Chambers, “The Inferno” by Robert W. Smith, “On A Hymnsong of Philip Bliss” by David Holsinger, “Fate of the Gods” by Steven Reineke, and lastly “Squirrel Chase” by Carol Brittin Chambers.
“I think the band performed really well! That was definitely the best time we played some of those songs and the perfect time to do it,” senior Hadleigh Collison, a member of the jazz and concert band, stated.
“All of the students performed near the top of their abilities. One of the musical highlights was when the high school played ‘The Inferno’ immediately followed by an arrangement of the hymn ‘It Is Well With My Soul,’" director Michael Sindt stated.
