Football Team Prepares for Season
By Lawson Zierke
Football is finally back. The Pierce High football team opens its season on Friday, August 29, facing off at home against the Aurora Huskies. There are 18 seniors on the roster this year.
The seniors on the football team are Brock Collison, Ryder Theisen, Brayden Suckstorf, Cameron Kuehler, Colter Anderson, Hayden Bauer, Jax Bauer, Boston Krueger, Clay White, Josiah Ahlers, Dayton Watts, Tyler Schulz, Skyler Stern, Bryce Lindstrom, Kaiden Fritz, Jackson Fischer, Christian Nordby, and Keaton Frazier.
“I'm probably excited for Aurora, just to get back out there and get on the field again,” J. Bauer said.
Every day after school, the team practices from about 3:30 to 6:30. They will be running through plays, working on their speed, or doing technique work.
“Well, at least since I’ve been here, this is the best attendance we’ve had to all the summer weights and stuff. Overall the boys just showed up consistently and worked every day,” Suckstorf said in regard to what the boys have done to prepare for the season.
The Bluejays also attended a two-day Concordia team camp where they scrimmaged against other teams. It also helped them work on team building and bonding.
The Bluejays are ready and excited to get back out on the field after a long hard hard-working summer.
