FCCLA Kicks Off the Year
By Grace Retzlaff
FCCLA, which stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America is a very community based organization and hroughout the year FCCLA will be putting on events throughout the community.
To kick off the year, their first event will be a fall fundraiser.
December 5 they will be putting on the memory tree ceremony in conjunction with the Pierce downtown holiday festival. This is a tradition they do every year to honor those who have passed.
Also starting up soon are the STAR projects which Brodersen states, “We are all very excited to start these.”
In October all members will also be attending the Fall Leadership Conference which will be held at Wayne State College.
Finally, the State Leadership Conference will be held toward the end of March.
Being an FCCLA advisor takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Brodersen works very hard every year to make sure that all the events run smoothly and effectively. Besides all the hard work that goes into FCCLA, it’s also a very fun group to be a part of and run. Brodersen's favorite part of FCCLA is the all member meetings.
“It’s a very diverse group of individuals with a very diverse group of interests.” But one thing that they all have in common, she states, is their goal to become better leaders.
