Kaelyn Halsey, along with Beutler, both had doubles. To Pierce’s credit, all nine of the Titan’s points came from the four home runs that were hit.
Fighting on into the second game, the Bluejays got their first win of the tournament, defeating Arlington 7-6. Bretchneider, Jessa Kraft, and Halsey had doubles. Skrdla had two stolen bases. With the score tied at 5 in the bottom of the fourth, Kraft slammed a home run, knocking Skrdla in to add to the final score.
“They played hard in every game and battled adversity throughout the tournament, including an injury to one of our starters and a lead being given up in our second game. We were able to bounce back and win the game against Arlington in the last inning with a two-run home run from Jessa Kraft,” coach Grant King states. “I was very happy with how they adjusted and played the rest of the day.”
Going into the final game, the Bluejays were looking for a win and came up with a big win, defeating Ord 14-3. Eleanor Bauermeister, along with Skrdla, both smacked doubles.
Bretchneider and Beutler both had a stolen base to add to this game.
“Individually I want to improve every day to get better and practice harder as a team,” Skrdla states.
