Bluejay Golfers Take Home Third

By Kendall Shada

The Pierce girls golf team traveled over to Wayne, and they finished third with a final team score of 421. Rylee Altwine broke the school record, shooting a 74 on Friday, August 29.

Individually, Altwine shot the lowest score, a 74, also coming in first place. Addison Frye came in behind her for the Bluejay team, shooting a 106, finishing 17th.

Other Bluejay girl golfers included Camassia White, ending with a 120. Brailey Jensen shot a 121. Brooke Podany finished with a 126.

“Overall, it was great to see the team hit the ball well and make good contact throughout the entire tournament. Rylee’s play was absolutely amazing. She has been working so hard to get better at the small/detailed skills that are part of her game,” head coach Jason Freudenburg says.

“I performed really well, seeing as I’ve never medaled in golf before, so it was pretty rad!” Frye also adds, “I think the team performed really well, and Rylee especially. She broke the girls golf school record, previous 79, now 74!” Frye, a junior, says.

The Pierce golfers head to West Holt on Thursday, September 4.
