Not a lot of people know what the “College Board Rural and Small Town Recognition Award” is exactly, but senior Colter Anderson was awarded this recognition this year because of his high PSAT score.
This award is given to high-achieving students from rural areas.
The PSAT is a test that students are able to take in their sophomore year. The test is offered by the College Board, and its goal is to help better prepare students for when they later take the SAT if they choose and to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program
This award is something for students to showcase their academic achievements on college applications.
There are many benefits to receiving this award, including looking good on college applications, boosting student connections for post-secondary education, and academic recognition.
The award presented is also known as the National Merit School Recognition Award. This award can be challenging to get and is awarded to select students each year.
Anderson notes that he received this award because “I scored above the 95th percentile on my PSAT.”
Upon graduation, he plans to attend an out-of-state university and get a bachelor's degree in statistics.
