By Brody Knox
The Pierce Bluejays defeated the Wayne Blue Devils with a score of 48-26 on Friday at Wayne State College’s Memorial football field.
“I think in general, I need to focus more on the analytic stuff and just finer details,” sophomore Baiden Neuhalfen states.
During the game, quarterback freshman Brody Scholting made 136 passing yards. In rushing, senior Jackson Fischer led the Bluejays with a total of 120 rushing yards, followed by junior Gavin Lubischer with 95 rushing yards. Junior Ethan Nordby added 65 rushing yards, trailed by Scholting with 56, and followed by seniors Colter Anderson and Bryce Lindstrom with 44 and 38 rushing yards, respectively.
In receiving yards, Lubischer led the team with 54 yards, followed by senior Keaton Frazier with 34 yards and senior Hayden Bauer with 25 yards. During the game, only one fumble was made on the Bluejays' side, and on defense, Brayden Wolken had a fumble recovery. Nordby and junior Cole DeBoer both made a sack.
“I think our offense has more room to improve. Our defensive coverage could do better, our defensive pass rushes could also be better. I mean all around, just our teamwork together definitely can improve. Plenty of room for improvement as always,” senior defensive end Cameron Kuehler states.
