The Bluejays Finish Out The Season Strong With Having One State Qualifier

Hosted at Wayne, the Pierce High golf team competed in the district golf meet Tuesday, October 7, with one state qualifier, Rylee Altwine.
Altwine, Pierce’s only state qualifier, shot an 84 and finished in second place, making this the fourth time she will play at state
“I feel great going into the state this year. Every aspect of my game has gotten much better since last year. There will always be something to improve on when you play golf. I try to go day by day and focus on the things I can control,” Altwine explains how she is trying to prepare for the state better than she did last year.
As for the rest of the team, the Bluejays shot a total score of 425, finishing in fourth place out of the 12 teams there.
Addison Frye and Camassia White both shot a 110. Adding to the total, Brooke Podany shot a 121, and Brailey Jensen hit a 124.
“The season was a good one. All the girls progressed and improved throughout the season. Some of them peaked at districts and others did not. That will be something I and the rest of the coaching staff will have to improve on for next year is having all the golfers on the team peak at districts and state,” head coach Jason Freudenburg comments. “Overall, it was a good season, and as a team we were really close to going to state. I look forward to the work the girls are going to put into the off season. When they do that they will put themselves in a great position next year.”
Freudenburg added, “Right now all our focus is on helping Rylee achieve her goals. She has worked her tail off this year and deserves to bring home a medal.”
State golf will be held at the Lake Maloney golf course in North Platte on October 13-14.
