Pierce Gets PaybackÂ

The Pierce softball team put together a strong offensive performance, with several players making key contributions throughout the game at Twin River, held in Genoa.
The Bluejays found success at the plate and took advantage of scoring opportunities to build their offense. They received key contributions from several players, including Evelyn Skrdla and Joslynn Kraft. Skrdla recorded a home run and four RBIs, while Kraft added two RBIs, two runs, and two walks.
Pierce built its lead throughout the game, scoring three runs in the second inning before adding two runs in the fourth. The Bluejays continued to add to their lead with one run in the fifth and two in the sixth. Pierce finished strong with five runs in the seventh inning to secure the 13-7 win. The Bluejays finished with 10 hits compared to Twin River’s six.
The team's strong performance came from consistent hitting throughout the lineup, with multiple players contributing offensively instead of relying on just one or two batters. The team also limited mistakes in the field, helping them keep control of the game and take advantage of scoring opportunities.
“Our team did very well hitting all the way up and down the lineup, and minimizing errors for the most part,” Skrdla, the shortstop, said.
Batters continued to put the ball in play and keep the offense moving, creating scoring opportunities throughout the game. Defensively, the team stayed consistent and limited mistakes, which helped prevent the Titans from gaining momentum. Even though the game lasted until the bottom of the seventh inning, the team continued to compete inning after inning and made important plays when they needed to get outs.
“It ended up being a long game, but we did a good job of winning almost every inning and getting the outs when we needed to,” head coach Ryan Ohnoutka said.
The Bluejays ability to stay consistent at the plate and make key defensive plays helped them maintain control throughout the game. Earlier this season when the Bluejays faced the Titans, Pierce lost 7-4. Pierce continued to build its lead and finished with a 13-7 victory over Twin River.
