Annual Powderpuff Competition

The annual powderpuff boys' and girls' games were played on Monday, September 28, and Friday, October 2.
The games were open to the public and attended by a few. The powderpuff girls football game started at 7 p.m. and the winning team was the sophomore/senior team, which was led by coaches Kendall Shada and Gavin Lubischer. They defeated the freshman/junior team, coached by Lawson Zierke and Maddox Ronspies.
Coach Shada helped lead the class of 2027 to their very first win.
“I had a fun time being able to be a part of the coaching staff for the sophomores and seniors. Gavin and I got the girls to lock in, and they did their job,” Shada said.
The girls sophomore/senior team consisted of sophomores: Eleanor Bauermeister, Kayton Werner, Teigan Warneke, Lydia Cone, and Gia Nygren as well as seniors Nora Herian, Haley Scholting, Adrienne Riggert, Mya Froehlich, Josie Painter, Kenzi Nygren, Chloe Warneke, Grace Suckstorf, and Payton Montgomery.
The freshman/junior team was made up of freshmen Brecken Krueger, Stella Riggert, Annabel Rasmussen, Addison Newman, Averi Burbach, Shaylie Wachter, Alayna Herian, Shae Beutler, and Miranda Richmond, along with juniors Kate Anderson, Paisley Sanders, Kyndal Werner, Natalie Endorf, Jada Johnson, Aislyn Moeller, Kaelyn Halsey, Kinley Hilkeman, Meredith Krienert, and Maelee Hamilton.
The game was very eventful, and the girls had lots of fun. When the mud settled on the field, the final score was 25-18, taken by the sophomores and seniors.
The boys powderpuff played volleyball, and the game was everything short of the state championships.
The freshman/juniors team consisted of freshman Lakin Prince, Blaine Weich, Maverick Krienert, Corbin Moeller, Henry Classen, Dagen Halsey, Carter Unger, and Colton Hanna, and juniors Kolten Wragge, Aiden Frazier, Konnar Jones, and Baiden Neuhalfen.
The winning team, the sophomore/senior team consisted of sophomores Brody Scholting, Lucas Weber, Burkley Collison, and Keegan Holan, along with seniors Gavin Lubischer, Ethan Nordby, Lawson Zierke, Maddox Ronspies, Logan Gubbels, Kain Ronnfeldt, Noah Fuerhoff, Gijs Blanken, Aiden Pospisil, Kaiden Ronnfeldt, and Tate Wales.
The sophomore and senior team defeated the freshman and junior team in three sets. All the sets were very close in points, but the veterans came out on top.
The winning team's head coach, as well as the head of the powderpuff committee, put a lot of effort into her event.
“I thought the turnout was really good. I had a fun time coaching. Adi and I just wanted the boys to play how they wanted, so we were pretty chill. Obviously our strategy worked because our team came out on top, winning all three sets,” Nora Herian said.
Overall, the boys and girls had lots of fun, and this was the first time in powderpuff history that the games were advertised and open to the public. There was a great turnout, and the student council, who sponsored the events, hopes to increase the number of supporters for powderpuff each year.
