FFA Worker Auction

By Kolten Wragge

The annual FFA work auction fundraiser is taking place on Thursday, November 5. Dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m., with the auction to follow in the high school gym.

Join the FFA for the annual auction, where the members offer a variety of services, including farm work, cleaning, babysitting, baking, and other skills related to their interests and SAEs (supervised agricultural experiences).

A fifth year FFA member and news reporter Kinley Hilkemann was eager to share her thoughts on the fundraiser.

“Different kids have different services that they offer, and the members of the public can bid on them, and then they make a plan for when we members will complete the tasks. It helps FFA members connect with the members of the community, and it gives opportunities to complete helpful work. It also provides our members with financial help at the state event and scholarships, as well as purchases the FFA needs to make. I personally like fruit sales more, but the auction provides me with great opportunities,” Hilkemann said.

Members' SAE projects also help to benefit the fundraiser because the time of the members being purchased is not the only thing that goes on in this benefit. Some SAE projects could be foods or goods like crafts or breads and jams that are made by the members themselves.

A four year FFA parent Crys Bauermeister shared what it means for her daughter Eleanor Bauermeister to have her SAE project available at the auction.

“Realizing that you can give to others of your time and your talents is sometimes the biggest thing you can get from leadership organizations like FFA,” C. Bauermeister said.
