The Pierce girls basketball team played O’Neill on Tuesday, and the girls played hard and won against the Eagles 43-30.
The Bluejays scored 15 points in the first quarter, followed by 11 in the second quarter.
After halftime the Bluejays fought hard and scored a total of six points and ending the game in the fourth quarter the Jays scored 11 points.
“Our defense came out to stop their shooters, and we did just that. That was a big key to the game, and we executed it well,” senior Aubrey Hanson said.
Skylar Scholting led the Bluejays with 16 points, Nora Herian and Abigail Cone scored eight each, Emily Endorf scored five, Haley Scholting scored five, and Hanson scored one.
“The girls played a great defensive game, holding that team to 30 points is something to be
proud of,” coach Darin Suckstorf said. “We will continue to work on reducing the number of turnovers and improving our shooting efficiency. Overall a great team win that the girls should be proud of”
The Pierce girls play in the Northeast Nebraska Shootout in Wayne for the holiday tournament December 27-30.
