New Members Inducted Into National Honor Society
By Addisyn Ludden
Pierce High’s National Honor Society had its annual induction ceremony on Friday, January 24, in the high school commons.
The NHS program empowers and equips students with the knowledge and skills to be leaders in the school, community, and everywhere.
The night started off with a speech from president Skylar Scholting. Four other speeches followed Scholting, each including a lighting of a colored candle signifying a pillar of the NHS. The first lit candle was the white candle representing knowledge, the yellow candle representing scholarship, the green candle representing character, the red candle representing service, and the purple candle representing leadership. The four other speeches were given by Aubrey Hanson, Aylla Weeder, Ava Knox, and Claudia Riggert, respectively.
“I enjoy being president of National Honor Society because it's cool being a part of something that is always trying to better the school and help people out,” Scholting says.
After the speeches, a current member first signed their name into a book, followed by the signing of the new member. The current member then lit their candle off the central white candle of knowledge, then passed that flame onto the candle of the new member.
The current members include seniors Amelia Ahlers, Hadleigh Collison, Hanson, Natalie Kosch, Knox, Riggert, Scholting, Alexis Sporleder, Kaylee Steffen, Weeder, and Hadley Wragge. The junior members include Colter Anderson, Brock Collison, Abigail Cone, Emily Endorf, Boston Krueger, Alyssa Kuper, and Sydney Kuper.
Pierce inducted 19 new members seniors Payton Cederburg, Kaylee Olson, and Soiyer Pfeiffer, juniors Lillian Blank, Elizabeth Furstenau, Mya Johnson, and Ann Reeker, sophomores Jada Brummels, Nora Herian, Maya Johnson, Ethan Nordby, Josie Painter, Raleigh Pfeiffer, Adrienne Riggert, Maddox Ronspies, Haley Scholting, Grace Suckstorf, Brandon Thomsen, and Aubrie Zimmerman.
