Connect with FCA
By Jessa Kraft
Everyone has heard the announcements that come on over the intercom every day, but do they listen? Every week, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, or FCA, meets at the Stellings, usually on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.
Some students may be thinking, I have enough on my plate and another thing will just stress me out more, but the meeting structure ensures comfort and calm.
“We start by eating a meal together at our house. Once everyone is done eating we gather together in the basement for the bible study/devotional portion of the meeting,” Melinda Stelling, one of the head leaders of FCA, says.
Since the meetings take place at the Stelling house, there are couches, chairs, and blankets for everyone. The homey feeling combined with a belly full of delicious food relaxes and opens a person’s mind to God.
One of FCA’s goals is to help the community with projects that involve Fellowship of Christian Athletes members.
“We try to provide a meal at the Norfolk Rescue Mission every fall, and package meals at Mercy Meals every spring,” Stelling said.
FCA is a perfect way for students to connect with their faith and do so in a comfortable and non-stressful way. Joining the Fellowship of Christian Athletes can bring compassion into a high school student’s career. Connect with FCA!
