Pierce Girls Overpower the Rain at the Ray Doerr Memorial Invite

Blowing it out of the water, the Pierce girls dominated the Ray Doerr Memorial Invite with a first place finish and 117 points.
“I thought the boys and girls teams competed well. The conditions were not favorable, but the kids did a great job getting through it,” head track coach Les Painter said.
Starting the day off with shot put, Raleigh Pfeiffer placed first with a throw of 33-10, while Kylie Dvorak placed third, throwing 30-03, and Jessa Kraft placed fifth and throwing 29-09.
Advancing on to discus, Dvorak secured first place with a throw of 105-09. Pfeiffer came in fourth with a throw of 98-07, and Kraft scored fifth place with a throw of 97-08.
“It was good to get a meet under our belts even though the weather wasn’t great,” Dvorak said.
Hopping onto long jump, Natalie Kosch placed first with a jump of 15-01.5 and placing fourth was Nora Herian, jumping 14-07.
In triple jump, Naomi Sullivan placed fourth, jumping a distance of 30-01 and Jada Brummels finished sixth with a jump of 29-09.25.
Moving on to running events, the girls had a successful start as the 4x800 relay team consisting of Aislyn Moeller, Hailey Scholting, Abigail Cone, and Hadleigh Collison, ran a time of 10:46.16, which placed them first.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Skylar Scholting hurdled with a time of 17.71, placing her second.
Moving on to the 100-meter run, Herian placed fourth, running a time of 13.56.
The 4x100 meter relay team (Paisley Sanders, Herian, Kate Anderson, and Meredith Kreinert) placed second, running a time of 53.85.
Running in the 300-meter hurdles, Collison placed third, running with a time of 50.79 and
S. Scholting placed fourth with a time of 50.87.
In the 800-meter run, H. Scholting placed second, running a time of 2:39.81.
Running in the 200-meter dash, Herian placed fourth with a time of 28.71 and Moeller placed fifth, running a time of 29.13.
Ending the day on a high note, the 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Moeller, Cone, S. Scholting, and Collison placed first with a time of 4:25.17.
The track team will next compete on Saturday, April 12, at the Wisner Lion’s Club track invite. The day will start with field events at eight.
