Pierce held the 24th annual honor band for grades 6-9 on April 5. Many band students flocked to the Pierce Jr/Sr High School to partake in the honor band, while Pierce sent 33 contestants.
Two bands made up the honor band.
The 6th and 7th grade band, conducted by Tessa Belgum, was comprised of seventh grade students: Shania Miller, McKaylin Passyka, Raegan Lambrecht, Emmett Hervert, Piper Underwood, Brysan Jones, and Blair Nitz.
Sixth graders included Aubrey Fehringer, Bristol Prince, Maci Kraft, Skylar Hammer, Charlotte Prochaska, Bryhler Weeder, Jaymison Neal, Jack Jablonski, Scarlett Fischer, and Teyha Pasewalk.
The band performed “Brace for Impact” by Christian Huss, “Jupiter from ‘The Planets’” arranged by Smith/Story, “Star Wars” by Strommen, and “Starfire March” by Randall Standridge.
“My favorite part was when we played ‘Star Wars’ at the end, which was my favorite song. I had a lot of fun, and I recommend that other kids do it. I would do it again next year,” Jablonski, a 6th-grade baritone player, said.
The eighth and ninth grade band was directed by Zac Konrad and was made up of the students Trinity Christiansen, Brooke Wortman, Avery Wragge, Sawyer Konert, Elliot Vanness, Dakota Lorenzen, Parker Anson, Baylie Podany, Kennedy Konert, Carter Sindt, Wynn Pfeil, Brooke Podany, Tristan Holton, Cooper Hansen, Quintin Flesner, and Carson Fevold.
They played “Evergreen Escapades” by Adrian B Sims, “Kvetchers” by Laura Estes, “Loch Lomond” by Jarod Hall, and “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Paul Murtha.
“The day was okay, but there weren’t a lot of people in my grade. My favorite part of the day was the concert and listening to the other band. My favorite song was ‘Evergreen Escapades’ and I would do it again next year if I were able to,” Podany, a freshman trombone player, said.
