By Dayton Watts
As spring rolls around, the track team starts practicing for their respective events.
This year, 35 boys will be competing for the team including eight seniors, nine juniors, seven sophomores, and 10 freshmen. They return four state qualifiers, who are Brenden Bolling (800m and 1600m), Ryder Theisen (triple jump), Keaton Frazier (discus), and Kendall Shada (3200m).
The team is coached by head coach Les Painter and assistant coaches Paul McCawley, Stephanie Cone, Gary Shada, Laurel Bane, Kyle Simmons, Kaleb Andersen, Brett Suckstorf, Brandon Franklin, and Adam Hervert.
“I think the team can do great things if we all stay focused and just have a fun season,” returning state medalist Bolling says.
The boys will start their season on March 21. They will compete in Wayne at the Wayne State invitational, where a select few are picked to go.
“I’m just excited to compete in my last and spend time with my friends,” senior Frazier states.
With a mix of seasoned athletes and fresh talent, the boys track team is excited to make a strong impression this spring.
