Parent-Teacher Conferences Take Place at Pierce High School
By Dayton Watts
On March 25, Pierce held its regular parent-teacher conferences for both the elementary and high school. The meetings ran from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., giving students a day off from school, and a time for parents to communicate with teachers about their children's academics.
At the high school, 160 of 255 families attended, for a percentage of 63%. If the parents showed up, their child would receive a coupon with five bonus points to use on one of their assignments.
“We like to connect at any time, but the parent-teacher conferences just set aside a few hours for parents to ask any other pertinent questions about their child’s academic careers,” teacher Crys Bauermeister says.
“Conferences are a great benefit for students because they give the major players in the student's academic career, the teachers, parents, and oftentimes the students, an opportunity to touch base with each other and make sure they are all on the same page with where their academics are. This communication ensures that there are no surprises when report cards come home in May,” teacher Brock Bretschneider stated.
The elementary school also held scheduled parent teacher conferences throughout the day.
