Girls Golf Swings into Their First Meet

The varsity and junior varsity girls golf team competed together for the first time this year with two girls placing at the O’Neill invite to set the stage for the rest of the season.
Seniors Brailey Jensen and Addison Frye, alongside juniors Camassia White, Brooke Podany, Alyvia Marks, and junior varsity Jaelyn Jensen represented the Pierce Bluejays on Thursday, August 20.
To start the season off strong, Podany placed ninth with a score of 101, and B. Jensen scored a 105, placing 15th. Although the others did not place, they still played well with White’s score of 106, Frye’s 117, and Marks’s 123. Finally, J. Jensen played for junior varsity and secured a 118.
“I am excited for this season because I know what this team is capable of. They are all coachable and work hard every day. When the girls are like that, it is fun to come to practice and competitions,” girls golf coach Jason Freudenburg said.
The girls as a team managed to secure fifth place out of nine teams with a score of 429.
“I have learned not to get as frustrated when I fall short of my goals. I have also become more consistent during golf season,” Frye commented on how she has grown during her time in golf.
The girls successfully competed for the first time this season, with many more opportunities to come. Be sure to cheer on the girls at their next meet at Wayne this Friday.
