More Than Just a BBQ: FFA Welcomes New Members and Starts a New Year

As the school year began, Pierce FFA came together and hosted a back-to-school barbeque for returning and new members. This meeting gave students a chance to meet the officer team and other members and learn more about FFA.
“We plan to make FFA meetings fun and inviting, and just let the younger members have a chance to be engaged throughout the year,” president Bailee Thelen said.
This year the officer team's main focus is to create an environment where all the members feel welcomed and comfortable participating in events. Getting the younger ones involved can help them build new friendships and become active in FFA.
The chapter hopes to increase membership among younger members and encourage students to develop their SAE (supervised agricultural experience) projects. Getting the younger members involved early can help them become more comfortable participating in FFA events.
“I want to see better, more in-depth SAEs,” advisor Matthew Neal said.
Members putting more time and effort into their SAE projects give them the opportunity to learn new skills and gain more experience outside of the classroom. These goals can help members become more active in FFA while preparing them for future opportunities.
