Pierce Golfers Finish Runner-Up

The Wayne Country Club hosted the 2026 Wayne Girls Golf Invitational on Friday, August 28, where the girls' golf team finished in an impressive second place.
With the team standings decided by just a few strokes, the Bluejays had several strong individual performances that helped secure their second place finish.
To start, junior Camassia White led the team with a sixth place finish, shooting a 94. Not too far behind White was senior Addison Frye, shooting a 103 for a 13th place finish. Just behind Frye was an 18th place finish from senior Brailey Jensen, shooting a 109. Coming in 23rd for the Bluejays was junior Brooke Podany, shooting a 112. Lastly for the team was Jaelyn Jensen, shooting a 114 and coming in 26th place.
“The course was in really good shape, especially the greens,” White states. “I’m really excited to see how our team places in future meets.”
White was especially pleased with how the team competed. “I’m really excited to see how our team places in future meets. We have all improved so much since last year,” White said.
The Battle Creek Bravettes finished as the team champions with a team score of 392. The Bluejays finished close behind with a score of 418, earning second place. Just two strokes behind Pierce were the Archbishop Bergan Catholic Knights, who finished with a team score of 420.
“The girls' ball striking has been good. Another positive has been that we have not been scoring well and getting scores that we are used to, but are still staying positive and battling through the round. Basically, showing a lot of perseverance, which is awesome,” head coach Jason Freudenburg states. “They are continuing to learn each time they compete that they need to make their mindset simple. ‘Make good to great contact with the ball each shot.’ When they think this way and have this mindset, the scores take care of themselves. Also, golf is so much more fun when thinking and golfing this way.”
The girls will be back in action at West Holt on Thursday, September 3, trying to come back home with the gold.
