The Bluejays Drive Their Way to Victory

Walking through the grass, different terrains, making great shots, and overcoming the difficult shots is what the golf team loves to do. Through the trees, hills, and fantastic shots at Hartington, the Pierce High golf team won the triangular match against Pierce, Hartington Cedar Catholic, and Wayne on Thursday, September 17. The team shot a total of 209, which earned the team the win.
Starting strong on the varsity side, Camassia White led the team, taking first place in the triangular with a score of 49. Following White was Brailey Jensen, placing second, and Brooke Podany, placing third, both shooting a 50. Finishing were Addison Frye, who shot a 60, and Jaelyn Jensen shooting a 61.
“I think we could have done better, but we did okay,” White said.
On the junior varsity side, Alyvia Marks led the team by shooting a 59. Not far behind was Teigan Warneke, who shot a 60, and Callan Vogeler, who shot a 73.
“They’ve done a really good job of being able to handle adversity really well. We talk about that all the time, not letting one bad shot turn into multiple bad shots,” head coach Jason Freudenburg said when asked about what the team has improved on from the beginning of the season to now.
The golfers will travel to Hartington on September 21 for the Hartington Cedar Catholic tournament. Be sure to catch the team swinging their way across the course.
