Ninth Graders Attend Northeast Community College for a Career Day
By Elizabeth Furstenau
Once students leave junior high, they start attending career days, preparing them for life beyond high school. The ninth graders took a quick trip to Northeast Community College for their career day on Friday, December 13.
During their time at the college, they first enjoyed a breakfast provided by Northeast. After eating, they split into groups. A few months ago, the ninth graders took a survey that determined which group they would be put into. In this survey they could pick their top careers they were interested in.
“Career days are an important way for students of all ages to start exploring their options for careers,” counseling assistant Macie Timm states. “Granted, they have time to think about such things before entering college and/or the real world, but these career days are great for really starting to learn what different careers really involve and have to offer.”
Freshmen offered their thoughts on the day.
“We did a landscaping to figure out where trees would go and scaled it out in the agricultural and natural resources section,” Kinley Hilkemann says.
“Being more cooperative and working with people,” Alyvia Marks states.
Students returned to school mid-morning.
